The Mayor of Warrumbungle Shire Council, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish, has announced that Warrumbungle Shire Council has secured a new General Manager. Mr Lindsay Mason was appointed following an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council held in Coonabarabran 5 March 2025.

The Mayor said ‘We are pleased to have Lindsay on board. While we have made some positive ground of late, the appointment allows Council to take the next steps for our region. Lindsay brings with him a wealth of knowledge, as well as an understanding of the Shire’s challenges, community and opportunities. Lindsay began his Local Government career in 1989 with the old Coolah Shire Council, and grew up in the district.

In speaking about the next steps for Council, Mr Mason noted “in the previous few months our team focus has been on driving better performance. It’s a great start and moving forward, financial prudency, asset management and a desire for improved performance will move us together, in the right direction.”

“Whilst Warrumbungle Shire has its challenges, distances and funding juggles as a start, the community has a lot of potential. I look forward to working with the Council, Councillors, Staff and Community to push for the best outcomes,” said Mr Mason.

The Mayor thanked all of the Councillors who have been involved in the extensive selection process, and shared appreciation to Leeanne Ryan who had also stepped up to the role in the absence of a permanent General Manager.
