Noise Complaints

The NSW EPA has a number of resources available for residents dealing with neighborhood noise.

Neighbour hood noise can be noise from things like car alarms, noisy equipment and parties, Noise is defined under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO) to include both sound and vibration.

Often people do not realise how loud they are being and are happy to turn down or stop the noise if you can communicate with them. If communication does not work you can contact a Community Justice Centre which will assist with settling differences between neighbors through mediation.

You can also apply to the Court for a noise abatement order under section 268 of the POEO Act.
