Stronger Country Communities Round 5 Program

Warrumbungle Shire Council has received almost $950,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Round 5 Program. $511,476 will go towards Shire Wide Swimming Pool Upgrades and $430,892 has been allocated for Shire Wide Sporting Facility Upgrades.

Stronger Country Communities aims to boost the wellbeing of communities in regional areas by providing new or upgraded social and sporting infrastructure, or community programs that have strong local support. The funds allocated to Warrumbungle Shire will be used to complete much needed upgrades to sporting facilities and outdoor pools across the Shire.

Project Overview

The Baradine Oval project includes:

• Convert old kiosks to storage areas

• Construct kiosk covered areas on concrete slabs

• Install bench seating around ovals

• Security upgrades to kiosk and grandstand by installation of antivandal screens on grandstand windows and kiosk serving area

• Construction of an accessible toilet

Baradine Oval is a 2024/25 construction project.  Project planning and approvals will be completed in 2023/24. 

Project Overview

The Binnaway Oval project includes:

• Convert old kiosks to storage areas

• Construct kiosk covered areas on concrete slabs

• Install bench seating around ovals

• New showers, tiles, flooring, painting, partitions, basins, urinals in changerooms

• Convert entry area to referee changeroom by constructing walls and doors

• Netball shed enclosure for privacy and connection of power for lights and power points

• Installation of security fencing at No 3 Oval
• Ground access improvements at No 2 Oval through removal of old infrastructure from boundary and remediation of the area

For outdoor pools at Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo and Mendooran:

• Installation of continuous disinfecting dosing systems, electrical upgrades and plant and equipment improvements, along with amenity upgrades

Coonabarabran, Baradine and Binnaway continuous disinfecting dosing systems have been installed and commissioned with all units operating. Electrical upgrades at all six pools have been completed.
